I am excited and happy because we have successfully finished filming the first scenes, over half, for our AI film ANDY. Our Director – Jason Farries has assembled a few scenes into a rough cut – raw footage, which is basic, unprocessed footage and not ready for public viewing. However it gives us an idea of how the film will look and feel and if we are on track with the characters and the story. I am delighted to say an unqualified “yes” to all of that.
The amazing hard work and commitment by everyone involved is paying off and we will have a good film, a good story about AI and its future role in the care business….looking after people who need help, the old, the sick and the needy.
It is a hard way to make a film, but a very rewarding one – the freedom to tell the story in the way you want to tell the story, without the compromise often required by those people, who come in after the screenplay is written and ready to go into Production. The people with the money and the influence to get a film made. Sometimes their demands are difficult – . “we need a star name for the lead – you can’t play the part, we need this location, this actor, these script changes, a name Director”. Suddenly the project is unrecognisable and people new to the project you have been toiling on for years, are completely in charge of it.
So my friends if you want to make an independent film, number one be very sure you know who your audience is and that there is one or you will end up with an expensive home movie. Be prepared to fight the fight to get the money without compromise and just do it”your way”! And finally – pray – for a little luck!
