Jane Merrow – acts and chats

A couple of weeks ago, I was watching the news on television and saw a brief interview about a charity warchild.org.uk

I was moved, a sad, sad story. I donated. This is not a large charity, but a badly needed one in my opinion. Because, who is suffering the most in the current climate of war – the children.

Children are our most precious resource, the ones we hope will have the courage, the strength, the imagination, the education to carry on the human race – a challenge indeed. We are the most flawed, the most complicated, the most talented, creative and sometimes worst of the animal species. However we need to survive and the our children are the ones to carry on the legacy.

The wars are creating a terrible legacy for them, the war children, the ones unasked, in the heart of the conflict. Can you imagine the pain, the fear, the loneliness of a child in conditions of war? For us in the relative safety of the Western World, with our eye on the next material object to make our lives even better, it is unimaginable.

Charles Dickens got it. He was aware and saddened by the plight of children in the Victorian World. Sadly now in the affluent Western Society, there are still too many children, growing up hungry, in domestic conflict, abuse and poverty.

And so my friends, please give a little thought to the children and take a look at a really worthy cause warchild.org.uk
